Princeton is located in the Similkameen Forecast District and is monitored by a branch of the Mountain Weather Services Office based in Kelowna. All of Princeton's readings for the forecasts are taken from the Princeton Airport which is located just north of town at approximately 700 meters above sea level. These observations are taken twenty-four hours a day. Most of the Similkameen District is in a rain shadow of the Coast Mountains which results in less cloud and less precipitation then elsewhere. Princeton has often been called "The Chinook capital of B.C." and is quite often drier than other locations in the Southern Interior.
