What is the Industrial Park?
The Town of Princeton presently owns approximately 157 acres of land located east of Highway 5A and south of the Princeton Exhibition Association Grounds. The Town intends to use a portion of the site for a newly developed industrial/business park. In 1994, an engineering report was prepared by Associated Engineers with the preliminary design and construction costs for a 19 lot industrial subdivision on part of the site. This parcel and approximate subdivision layout is shown on the Site Plan.

Through the Town's market assessment and thorough research conducted with Forest Renewal B.C. officials in Kamloops, the Town of Princeton has determined that emphasis should be placed on the "value-added" wood industries as the ultimate market for the business park. However, this emphasis on value-added wood industries does not preclude other industries from locating in the proposed industrial park.
It is hoped that the industrial park will encourage wood based industries, like the environmentally friendly Princeton Cogeneration Corporation, to establish themselves in the Princeton area. The Cogeneration Corp. uses wood waste (that used to be burnt) from Weyerhaeuser to produce low pollution pellets for wood stoves.
2. Why Princeton? Why Now?
Princeton offers a competitive advantage to those in the wood manufacturing industry because of its proximity to a supply of timber, relatively low land values, and its central location to major markets. Chamber of Commerce representatives have noted that a number of companies have visited Princeton in the recent past seeking industrial land. These companies often do not locate in Princeton or even in the Okanagan-Similkameen region due to a general lack of zoned industrial land offering some option in terms of price, servicing and size.

With the recent close of the mine there is a great need in Princeton for increased growth in industry that would provide jobs needed for new residents and the current work force. In time it will hopefully lead to increased population growth and further expansion.
